| What is GPS,how is it work? |
top |
 Global Positioning System (GPS)
is a technology that uses the position of satellites to determine locations on
earth. GPS is an essential tool for GIS(Geographical Information System) because
it allows for the gathering of data that locationwise is highly accurate.
Working of GPS:GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very
precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this
information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location.
Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a
satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver
how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more
satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on
the unit's electronic map.A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at
least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and
track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can determine
the user's 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user's position
has been determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed,
bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.

| What is GPRS? |
top |
General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) is
a packet-based wireless communication service that promises data rates from 56 up to 114
Kbps and continuous connection to the Internet for mobile phone and computer users. The
higher data rates allow users to take part in video conferences and interact with multimedia
Web sites and similar applications using mobile handheld devices as well as notebook
computers. GPRS is based on Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication and complements
existing services such circuit-switched cellular phone connections and the Short Message
Service (SMS).

|
| What is GSM? |
top |
 Global System for Mobile(GSM)
Communication. Originally developed as a pan-European standard for digital mobile
telephony, GSM has become the world’s most widely used mobile system. It is used on
the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequencies in Europe, Asia and Australia, and the MHz 1900
frequency in North America and Latin America.
|
|
| How the device(connected in vehicle) send data when GPRS failed? |
top |
When the device countinuously sending data using
GPRS,and at the condition when GPRS is failed at that time device send data by using GSM technology.
At one condition when both technologies (GSM & GPRS) are failed the data collected from sattelites
has stored by device itself and after getting network(GPRS or GSM) it will send to server.
